We are here in Mina, at the place where we throw the stones, the Jamarat.
If you remember the story of our father, Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him), when he prayed for a son and promised Allah that if he was given one, he would return him back to Allah, this place reminds us of that promise.
It was here that Ibrahim prepared to sacrifice his son, keeping his word to Allah.
That act of faith is part of what we follow in Hajj.
The second day after Arafat, the day of Eid al-Adha, the Day of Nahr, is when we come here to do this.
Someone asked, “Why did we not start from the first one over there, since the street goes that way?”
And the answer is simple: everything we do as Muslims, we do it exactly the way the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) did it. Nothing extra, nothing foreign.
Each stone we throw is a reminder to reject Shaytan, to obey Allah, and to keep our promises the way Ibrahim kept his.
May Allah accept it from us and make it easy for every pilgrim. Ameen.
